Day-wise Itinerary
Arrive Delhi - Old Delhi and New Delhi Tour
Arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Meet our representative and transfer to hotel. Morning visit Old Delhi - explore the massive Red Fort built in 1648, take a rickshaw ride through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk, visit Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India, and pay respects at Raj Ghat - the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Afternoon tour of New Delhi - drive past India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and Parliament House. Visit Humayun's Tomb - a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Qutub Minar - the tallest brick minaret in the world at 73 meters. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Leela Ambience and Convention or similar.
Delhi - Agra - Delhi (drive by bus - 400 km)
After breakfast, drive to Agra and upon arrival, visit Agra Fort. Agra Fort is a historic fortress in the city of Agra, also known as the Red Fort of Agra. Later, visit the highlight of the day - the Taj Mahal (closed every Friday). The Taj Mahal, a beautiful architectural monument that ranks among the Seven Wonders of the World, is a historic masterpiece illustrating the fusion of various architectural styles. The Taj Mahal is the crown jewel of the world's most beautiful buildings and a symbol of eternal love. Afterwards, drive back to Delhi. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Leela Ambience and Convention or similar.
Delhi
After breakfast, visit India Gate, a monument built in honor of the Indian soldiers who sacrificed themselves in the Afghan war. The President's House (Rashtrapati Bhawan), the royal residence of the British rulers. Humayun's Tomb - Delhi's finest example of Mughal architecture. Qutub Minar - a minaret and tower of victory. Lotus Temple, a Bahai House of Worship (closed every Monday). Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Leela Ambience and Convention or similar.
Delhi - Paro (flight) - Thimphu (drive by bus - 60 km)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight to Paro. Upon arrival at Paro Airport, meet our representatives and drive to Thimphu. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and have free time. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Le Meridien or similar.
Thimphu
After breakfast, visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), the largest statue in the country, then walk around and take in views of the valley. Visit National Memorial Chorten - the construction of this landmark was initiated by the third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, as a monument to world peace and prosperity. Following his untimely death, it was completed in 1974 and serves both as a memorial to the late king (the Father of Modern Bhutan) and as a monument to world peace. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Le Meridien or similar.
Thimphu - Punakha (drive by bus - 75 km)
After an early breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochula. From Thimphu, the road winds through a series of switchbacks over the Dochu La Pass. On clear days, there is a panoramic view of the eastern Himalayas, including Bhutan's highest mountain, Gangkhar Puensum. In the afternoon, hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of the Divine Madman. It is a lovely walk through a pretty village. Visit the courtyard of Punakha Dzong. Arrival in Punakha in the evening; upon arrival, check in at the hotel and free time at your leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Dhensa or similar.
Punakha
After breakfast, visit the beautiful Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Temple (30-minute walk each way from the road). Drive through the idyllic countryside north of Punakha and hike about half an hour (each way) to visit the Khamsum Yulley Chorten Temple. Besides its magnificent artwork, the path there and back is also interesting, passing through rice fields and villages with wonderful views. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Dhensa or similar.
Punakha - Paro (drive by bus - 120 km)
After an early breakfast, drive to Paro; upon arrival, check in at the hotel and visit Ta Dzong and Rinpung Dzong. Ta Dzong (closed Sundays and Mondays, as well as on public holidays) - once a watchtower built to defend Rinpung Dzong during the inter-valley wars of the 17th century, Ta Dzong was inaugurated as Bhutan's National Museum in 1968. Rinpung Dzong has a long and fascinating history. It was built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan. Paro - Taktshang - Paro
Early in the morning, after breakfast, visit Taktshang, or Tiger's Nest, as the Taktshang Palphug Monastery is often called. It is one of Bhutan's most revered and famous monasteries. It is located on a 900-meter-high cliff face. It is an impressive and essential destination, but it is only accessible on foot or by mule or pony. At Taktshang, you can visit several monasteries, temples, and retreat houses in the surrounding area. The most notable among them are Zangdopelri and Ugyen Tsemo. Taktshang and several nearby temples were destroyed by a fire in 1951, but much of it remained intact and most of the relics were saved. Soon after, Taktshang was rebuilt by the residents of Tsento village. In the evening, return to the hotel and free time. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Le Meridien or similar.
Paro - Kolkata (flight)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Kolkata. Arrival at Kolkata Airport, meeting with our representative and transfer to the hotel. Later, visit St. Paul's Cathedral, a Church of North India (CNI) cathedral with an Anglican background in Kolkata. Visit the Victoria Memorial, a large marble monument on the Maidan in central Kolkata. Visit Mother Teresa's House in the evening - South Park Street Cemetery or Mother's House (closed Thursdays, Easter Sunday, and 26 December). This is where Mother Teresa lived, prayed, worked, and led her order of sisters spread across the world. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Taj City Centre or similar.
Kolkata - Cochin (flight)
Early in the morning, take your packed breakfast with you and drive to the airport to take your flight to Cochin. Upon arrival at Cochin Airport, visit the Dutch Palace (closed on Fridays), built in 1555 by the Portuguese. Visit the Jewish Synagogue (closed Fridays and Saturdays), originally built in 1568. Visit St. Francis Church, considered the oldest church built by Europeans in India, was built in 1503. Visit Chinese fishing nets and Fort Kochi. In the evening, check in at the hotel and have free time. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Crown Plaza or similar.
Cochin - Alleppey - Mararikulam (drive by bus - 80 km)
After breakfast, drive to Mararikulam. En route, enjoy a day cruise on a houseboat in Alleppey. The day cruise on the houseboat is a unique experience. You can enjoy the soothing views of the villages along the banks of the backwaters, such as green rice paddies, rustic houses, and small coconut-leaf thatched-roof houses built along the backwater banks. Lunch features a Kerala houseboat menu with sambar, rice, aviyal, thoran, pappad, curd, pickles, green salad, and non-vegetarian dishes such as chicken curry, karimeen, and fish cutlets, typical of Kerala. In the evening, continue to Mararikulam; upon arrival, check in at the hotel and free time at your leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Abad Turtle Beach or Azure Tides or similar.
